Hooking up a XLR Microphone
I want to hook an XLR Condenser microphone to my Forte's mic in. I know you can switch a jumper on the board to allow the use of a Balanced mic, is all I really need just an XLR to 1/8" adapter? (well, more then likely an XLR to 1/4" adapter, then a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter)
Also does the Forte provide phantom power? I didn't read any mention about that in the specs, but it did show both a condenser and a dynamic mic in the diagram for Balanced mode, and most pro condenser mics require phantom power.
If it doesn't provide it can I just use a XLR mic preamp that also supplies phantom power, or would having 2 mic preamps cause an issue? They make pure XLR phantom power supply boxes for not too much, if it is an issue.
Thanks!

Re: Hooking up a XLR Microphone
The Forte doesn't have the additional circuitry necessary to boost the computer's line inputs from 4 volts up to 48 volts. So your best bet will be a quality pre-amp, then feeding the output from that into the line input of the Forte. That's the preferred way to do it anyway.
